Dear campus community,
Welcome to the newly formed Office of Educational Innovation & Assessment (EIA), effective July 1, 2014. This new office is the result of merging the Teaching & Learning Center and the Office of Assessment; it represents the university's renewed commitment to excellence in teaching, learning and assessment. It is expected that this new office will serve as a "nexus for campus-wide efforts to further elevate scholarship and research support for pedagogical innovation and improved learning."
I feel honored to be given this opportunity to serve the university as the inaugural director of EIA. Consistent with the university's initiatives articulated in Realizing UB 2020, my vision for the Office of Educational Innovation & Assessment is to make it an integrated service, education, research and engagement unit of the university. In the coming months, Carol VanZile-Tamsen, Associate Director of EIA, and I will engage EIA staff and the campus community in a strategic planning process to define a collective vision for the office and chart a course to position UB at the forefront of educational innovation.
I look forward to working with all of you.
